As artists who are also lovers of Jesus, what is our calling? Do we do art for art’s sake or should we look deeper? Published secular author, Cathryn Clinton Hoellwarth, spoke to this during a Greenhouse Arts Teleconference. Cathryn writes books on topics that bend towards the controversial. Her book A Stone in My Hand made it on the 2003 list of banned books right alongside To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. So, where does Cathryn find her foundation as a Jesus-following artist who writes on tough subject matter in a secular world? We find out in this excerpt from her talk, “A Call Towards Wholeness: Hearing God in the World of Creativity and in Everyday Life“.
